Jim is a proven entrepreneur with over 39 years of experience in the internal audit and accounting profession. He founded CrossCheck Compliance in 2008 to provide financial services organizations access to highly talented regulatory compliance, lending, and internal audit professionals. Prior to CrossCheck Compliance he co-founded Jefferson Wells, a professional services firm providing business solutions and process improvement to its clients in the areas of internal audit, accounting, tax, and technology risk management. Jefferson Wells was one of the fastest growing private companies in the mid to late 1990s growing to 25 offices with 1,600 employees and achieving annual sales of over $100 million. Prior to joining Jefferson Wells, Jim held various leadership positions in internal auditing for Kraft Inc. and Tenneco Inc. He is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Internal Auditor, and a Certified Information Systems Auditor.
Jim is a graduate of St. Norbert College and holds an MBA from the University of Houston.
Mike has spent nearly 30 years in the mortgage and financial services industries. Prior to co-founding CrossCheck, he was associated with The Prieston Group, a firm he helped launch, which provides fraud prevention, and indemnification services to the mortgage industry. Prior to joining The Prieston Group, he spent 16 years with Household International. During his career with Household, he served in a variety of positions, including national sales director of Household’s correspondent mortgage business and chief financial officer of Household’s consumer finance business, Household Finance. Mike began his professional career with the accounting firm of Ernst & Young.
Mike is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and has an MBA from the University of Chicago. He is a Certified Mortgage Banker, a Certified Public Accountant, and a Certified Fraud Examiner.
Loretta is a regulatory compliance and risk management executive with over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. Her most significant area of focus is fair and responsible lending risk management, including compliance management system and program development, qualitative and quantitative risk assessments, data quality management, process mapping, and staff training. Ms. Kirkwood’s knowledge of bank regulations, operations, and technology provide an integrated approach to assisting banks in developing and implementing effective regulatory risk management programs. She has assisted numerous financial institutions with assessments of fair and responsible lending programs, HMDA and CRA process optimization, CRA performance evaluation, exam and investigation management, and leveraging technology to ensure integrity in data capture and process management.
Prior to joining CrossCheck Compliance, Loretta served as Senior Director of Treliant Risk Advisors in Washington, DC; Senior Vice President, Compliance Consulting at CenTrax / Marquis in Plano, Texas; Vice President and Fair Lending Officer of First American National Bank in Nashville, Tennessee; and Treasury Manager at American Express in Brighton, England.
Todd has over 15 years of experience in mortgage lending with an emphasis on quality due diligence services, including underwriting, compliance, client relations, fraud detection, quality control, and collateral review. Before joining CrossCheck, Todd worked at Heartland Wholesale Funding and HSBC. Todd has designed and implemented procedures with an emphasis on quality control, fraud detection, and collateral review. While at Household/HSBC he performed onsite due diligence and oversaw completion of numerous due diligence projects which consisted of full credit, compliance, fraud, and collateral reviews.

Monika is a general counsel with over twenty years of experience in nationwide financial services companies. She has advised senior management and boards of directors on both crisis critical and fundamental legal issues, including guiding lenders through CFPB and other regulatory examinations and compliance with the subsequent requirements and reporting.
Monika joins CrossCheck from Stonegate Mortgage Corporation where she was Associate General Counsel. Previously she has been general counsel for Cove Financial Group, Stearns Lending and New Century Mortgage Corporation. Her background includes all phases of mortgage lending including origination, compliance, fair lending, regulatory affairs, litigation, secondary market transactions, and claims resolution; as well as general business operations including the internal audit function. She has also been Senior Director, Compliance and Fair Lending at Treliant Risk Advisors.
Monika is a graduate of Loyola Law School of Los Angeles, where she served on Law Review. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from California State University Northridge. She has been active in both mortgage industry and legal organizations and is a frequent speaker.
Jim is a regulatory compliance and internal audit professional with 30 years of experience in the financial and professional services industries. He is currently a Managing Director in our Chicago office at CrossCheck Compliance, LLC. Prior to CrossCheck, Jim provided regulatory compliance and internal audit expertise for clients as a Financial Institutions Services Director at Jefferson Wells – a provider of internal audit, accounting, technology risk and tax services. Jim was a chief audit executive at an Ohio based thrift and spent three years in the former Soviet Union assisting with banking privatization efforts in the newly formed independent states. Jim began his career at Banc One Corporation (now JPMorgan Chase) and spent 12 years where he was responsible for the financial audit and regulatory compliance functions of the corporate audit division. Jim has proven skills in leadership, communications, policy and procedure development and implementation, and is a Certified Financial Services Auditor.

Anastasia (“Tasia”) is a regulatory attorney and financial services executive with over 20 years of experience advising domestic and international clients on complex strategic, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance issues. Her expertise includes, but is not limited to, compliance program audits and enhancement, CFPB preparedness, examination management, regulatory enforcement and remediation, complaints management, vendor management, and UDAAP risk assessments. Throughout her career she regularly interacted with staff members of the FRB, OCC, FDIC, CFPB, SEC, and state banking commissions and attorneys general.
Prior to joining CrossCheck, Tasia held consulting roles at NewOak and Treliant Risk Advisors. She spent more than a decade in private practice, most recently at BuckleySandler. She also served as in-house counsel for Merrill Lynch’s Global Private Client Group in London and began her career at the Securities & Exchange Commission’s Division of Enforcement.
Tasia earned her LL.M. in Securities & Financial Regulation from Georgetown University Law Center, her J.D. cum laude from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Center, and a B.A. cum laude in Political Science/History from University of South Alabama.
For eight years Tasia served on the board of Women in Housing & Finance, a prominent non-profit in Washington, DC, primarily in an executive role and served as President from 2014-2015. Tasia is an approved securities industry arbitrator for FINRA Dispute Resolution’s Arbitration Program and is a Certified Regulatory Compliance Professional (CRCP).
Liza is a senior bank compliance and risk management executive with over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. She rejoins CrossCheck after four years as the chief compliance and operational risk officer for Associated Banc-Corp, where she was responsible for the management of the regulatory compliance and other risk management programs. Her background includes twelve years at Jefferson Wells International where she was the firm leader of the Internal Audit & Controls services. After leaving Jefferson Wells in 2008, Liza joined CrossCheck and over the next three years, was instrumental in the start-up operations for the regulatory compliance and internal audit practice by developing and executing these services for financial institutions in the Midwest. She began her career in financial services with Banc One Corporation, now JP Morgan Chase.
Liza is a graduate of Marquette University in Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Financial Services Auditor and she also holds a certification in Risk Management Assurance. She is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors and was a Compliance School Advisory Board Member for the Wisconsin Bankers Association. She has spoken at industry association seminars, conferences and roundtables.
Heidi is a regulatory compliance and internal audit professional with over twenty years of experience in the financial and professional services industries. Prior to joining CrossCheck, her responsibilities included leading the internal audit and controls practice of the Milwaukee office of Jefferson Wells International, providing compliance support throughout the Midwest region of a twelve-state $90 billion bank holding company, managing and performing comprehensive internal audits and regulatory compliance reviews, and managing all aspects of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance implementation projects for companies of various sizes and industries. Heidi has proven skills in project management; development and implementation of solutions; team leadership and communications; and is a Certified Financial Services Auditor.

Patti is a senior business development professional with extensive experience in the financial services industry. She has been managing client relationships with financial service providers for over 25 years. Her knowledge of the industry comes not only from her operational experience working in banking, but also from providing consulting services to bank clients throughout the Midwest. Her clients include financial services organizations of all sizes, from small community banks to credit unions to some of the largest mortgage companies and banks in the Midwest.
Patti has played key role in the development of the Wisconsin market of CrossCheck Compliance. She serves her customers with internal audit, compliance, and loan review consulting while maintaining strong customer relationships through excellent communication and relationship management skills.
Patti is a graduate of Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee.
Tara McNally is an experienced Human Resources executive who is a trusted advisor to both management and employees. As a business leader, her advice linking people strategy to business growth is sought after by management teams. As an employee resource, Tara is a highly regarded coach and confidant advising employees on career planning and development.
For the last three years prior to joining CrossCheck, Tara was an independent consultant. Her clients included IRI in Chicago, an organization where she had previously served as Human Resources Director. She also led and managed internal recruitment and onboarding for the global Leadership Consulting practice for partners at Heidrick & Struggles.
Tara has over sixteen years of human resources experience. In addition to expertise in recruiting, she has demonstrated leadership in the transformation of human resources from a tactical function into a strategic business partner.
Tara is a graduate of the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.
Chris is a financial services executive and leader in the mortgage banking profession with expertise in secondary marketing, risk management, business development and strategic initiatives. Her career has included correspondent lending positions as well as Director of Marketing at Fannie Mae where she recruited, trained and managed a professional staff that purchased mortgage loans from financial institutions. Prior to Fannie Mae, Chris held positions at banks and independent mortgage companies in the primary market managing quality control, underwriting, closing, and secondary market units.
Chris has managed secondary market sales to Fannie Mae, Wall Street firms, private investors, as well as pooling GNMA insured loans. Throughout her career Chris has effectively used a consultative approach to build client relationships while partnering with quality control and risk management functions. Chris is also a Certified Mortgage Banker and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™. Chris serves on the board of directors of the Illinois Mortgage Bankers Association and chairs the Secondary Marketing Committee.
Chris is a graduate of DePaul University and holds an MBA from the University of Chicago – Booth School of Business.
Aaron has over 15 years of experience as a mortgage professional with expertise in loan origination, processing, and underwriting. He is Director of CrossCheck’s mortgage quality assurance practice which includes both prefunding and post-closing quality control reviews. He has participated in a variety of mortgage engagements, including portfolio due diligence fraud reviews, and targeted reviews of FHA loans. He is an FHA Direct Endorsement Underwriter.
Aaron joined CrossCheck from Capital One where he was the first legacy underwriter to earn Senior Direct Endorsement underwriting authority. As a team leader, he helped build their FHA underwriting process from the ground up. His prior experience includes sales roles at Fortress Financial and Full Spectrum Lending. He began his career in credit management at Wells Fargo Financial as a credit manager.
Aaron is a graduate of Buena Vista University.

His clients include financial services organizations of all sizes, from small community banks to large national banks. Prior to joining CrossCheck, Jim was a manager with Jefferson Wells. He previously held positions with Witkowski & Associates (a CPA firm), Metavante (now FIS), U.S. Bank, and Fleet Mortgage. Jim is a certified public accountant and a certified BSA officer.
Jim is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and has an MBA degree from Marquette University. Jim is a frequent instructor for industry associations in Wisconsin and Illinois.
Linda is a marketing and business development executive with over thirty years of experience in the financial services industry. Her expertise is in creating strategic advantage and leading organizations through marketing, business development and sales transformations by identifying and implementing innovative initiatives.
Beginning her career in the mortgage insurance industry, Linda has held leadership roles in major companies such as MGIC, Freddie Mac, FICO, Prudential Real Estate and Relocation, Homecomings Financial, Citigroup and Hewlett-Packard. In addition, she successfully led a nonprofit in the affordable housing industry where she was instrumental in raising substantial new revenue, developing the organization’s strategic plan and forming key partnerships.
Linda is a graduate of the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana with High Honors in Finance.
